Saltburn Reviews – Everything You Needed to Know About this Film

Saltburn Reviews: It’s hard not to be a little swept up. Especially in the opening Montage of “Saltburn”. A sequence that introduced the audience to Felix (Jacob Elordi). By way of an older Olivier (Barry Keoghan). In this article, we are going to learn everything about “Saltburn”.

Saltburn Reviews – Introduction

Here, he was recounting his freshman years at Oxford University. Moreover, Oliver can’t decide whether or not he is in love with Felix.

However, through his reflection, he admits that he did love Felix. But he’s not sure if he was ever in love with Felix.

The images we see of Felix betray Olivier’s statements. They are also extremely close-ups. Also, a dreamy reminiscence of this beautiful and charismatic boy.

Along with the year he and Felix spend together. Of course, as “Saltburn” unwinds. Here, things are not as rose-colored as they once seemed.

Saltburn Reviews – The Title of the Film

The title’s name comes from Felix’s sprawling estate in the English countryside. He extends an offer to Oliver to spend the summer with him. Also, with his family at Saltburn.

Moreover, it’s a complete culture shock for Oliver, just like Oxford was. Unlike Felix, Oliver is at Oxford on a scholarship.

Further, it also separates him from the affluent world of his collegiate peers. Because they all come into the school this year having known each other for years.

What endears Oliver to Felix is his kindness. Without any expectation of something in return reportedly.

Saltburn Reviews – Felix’s Cousin Farleigh

Perhaps as its most simple, “Saltburn” is about obsession. Also, what it can do to a person. Moreover, “It’s a dream”, says Felix’s cousin. Farleigh (Archie Madekwe) to Oliver

Here, he’s referring to the country estates. Because it’s something none of them ever likely to have on their own.

Farleigh is reportedly included in the upper echelon as a favor to his mother. But he doesn’t have a family name, money, or status on his own.

Furthermore, to be that close to the opulent world of the Catton family. Here, it’s like getting a taste without ever feeling full. Also, living on an empty stomach can lead people to make terrible decisions.

Saltburn Reviews – Storyline

Here, it’s interesting to see the reception the film has garnered. Also, director Emerald Fannell is no stranger to alienating large swaths of moviegoers.

Her first film, “Promising Young Women” won the Academy Award for original screenplay. Although one could seem to agree if it was a wild feminist. Or if it said women back 50 years.

Further, the same split existed with the release of “Saltburn”. However, this time it’s sex that is the center of the discourse.

It’s a topic that’s been always front and centre of social media debates. Whether a sex scene serves any purpose except to titillate the viewer.

Saltburn Reviews – Barry Keoghan as Oliver

The picture boasted of a wickedly talented cast. As devious and surprising as the story with its twists and turns.

Moreover, as Oliver, Keoghan turns into a towering performance. Also, sinister and irresistible in equal measure.

Further, he gives himself over the plot machinations with malicious glee.

His sad eyes and severe cheekbones are an effective mass for Oliver’s performance. Along with manipulative existence.

Keoghan reportedly approaches every scene here with a remarkable level of abandon. Further, propelling the film to its divinely gonzo conclusion.

Since Fannell is not afraid to expose the sociopathic consequences of obsession.

Saltburn Reviews – Jacob Elordi as Felix Catton

Euphoria’s Elordi charms as the dreamy delectable spoiled rich boy. Also, employing a weaponized charm to convince the audience.

Moreover, his chief power is not his wealth but his crooked grins and shaggy hair.

As a result, it’s the best work for his career without a question.

Saltburn Reviews – About the Movie

The honeymoon with Felix ends abruptly when he decided to surprise Ollie with the road trip for his birthday.

Later, discovers that the damaged creature he has adopted. Here, he isn’t quite what he seems. Oliver’s subsequent course of action becomes increasingly ruthless. Also, beginning at the old standby of movies about rich people’s costume parties. But this time with thumbing EDM.

Further, Fennell is not a believer in restraints. So, instead of

making Ollie someone who has tasted the good life. Now, he is desperate to hang on to it. The writer/director turns him into a nutjob with a laser-focused sense of purpose.

Viewer’s Opinion

Critics are divided over how effectively “Promising Young Women” dug into its theme.

Moreover, it was actually about something undoubtedly. However, harder to say the same for the showy but somewhat empty “Saltburn ”.

While there are worse things to watch than Keoghan moving around naked. Here, it’s a sure sign that subtlety and subtext are of limited interest. “Saltburn” is fun in a cheeky way that draws attention to its provocation. But unfortunately, there is not much there to see.

Conclusion

The film’s conclusion does leave a little to be here desired. Moreover, the plot twist doesn’t feel entirely earned.

Also, the ending makes sense, but the script missed a few steps to get there. As “Saltburn” ends, there are distinct feelings about why. But in the most sense, a character’s action leads to a conclusion.

Further, the main setback of the film is that the twist doesn’t explain. Especially how we got there.

Furthermore, there are enough breadcrumbs that make just enough sense for it. But not to fully feel out of left field. However, the script could have put in a little more context.
